  Marcus, Energy and Environment Specialist from the US Embassy in Sweden, will talk about sustainability issues from an American perspective, including what has happened on the sustainability front during president Obama´s mandate, how sustainability issues are dealt with locally and nationally, the US view on what happened during the climate meeting in Durban, how US and its Embassy in Sweden cooperates with Sweden through the Swedish American Green Alliance (SAGA). He also wants to listen to your view and thoughts on USA's engagement for sustainability and to possible ideas for a deeper cooperation between USA and Sweden (and other countries).

  Welcome to a guest lecture with Prof. Kim Veltman from Virtual Maastricht McLuhan InstituteLeonardo da Vinci's interest in spatial effects was inspired partly by new trends in painting practice among his contemporaries:e.g.Mantegna, Jan van Eyck. His early research into linear perspective convinced him that the vanishing points of geometrical objects were problematic. Hence, his later paintings focused on effects of light and shade (chiaroscuro) on human forms. When he moved to Milan c. 1482 he began to study optics and perspective, which led to preliminary treatises (Ms. A - C, 1490-1492) and culminating in later manuscripts (e.g. Mss. E-F, 1513-1515) and plans for a Treatise on Painting, which his student Francesco Melzi later compiled.
